In 2019 I became pregnant with our first child. Like most expecting moms, I was hoping for an easy, symptom free pregnancy were I got to bask in my beautiful pregnancy glow. I wanted a natural holistic pregnancy. One where I would:

- Take the best prenatal vitamins

- Eat high quality whole foods

- Prioritize daily movement

- Make time for self care, stress reduction and restorative rest

- Use natural remedies to address any discomfort that popped up

- Proactively seek out practitioners to support pregnancy and delivery

- By step any products or environments that could be harmful to myself or my growing baby.

I was ready to do everything in my control to set my child up for a lifetime of health and wellness. But to my surprise, I found this to be a challenging feat. There was no single guide that told me how to modify these lifestyle habits for pregnancy. There was no master list that I could use to pull together a multifaceted care team of naturally minded practitioners. For that matter in the beginning I didn't even know I needed one.

Luckily, I had my background as a holistic integrative nutrition coach, Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner and a student of the School for Applied Functional Medicine. I had access to the tools and research to create the pregnancy and delivery of my dreams. There were a few road bumps, but my health crash a decade prior motivated me to continue being an advocate for my baby and myself. It wasn't perfect, but I had a pretty awesome experience carry my daughter and bringing her into the world.

The transition from small business owner who could do whatever I wanted, whenever I want, to being at the mercy of a baby boss was ROUGH! When confiding in others about my struggles, I was told this was normal. Being a mom is the hardest job in the world. My experience is to be expected. So I sucked it up and kept blazing through each day. Doing my best to care for my family, clients, home and using any leftover time and energy for caring for me. I got into a pretty good grove of seemingly doing it all while holding it together.

But the thing is, this experience of motherhood wasn't unique at all. Every time I shared my experience, fellow moms agreed "Same with me!"

We connected over the fact that we:

 - Felt tired and lost in motherhood

- Missed our old identity, things we used to do and who we used to be

- Spent our days pouring all of our energy in to the health and well being of everyone around us

- Were constantly on the move with minimal breaks

- Had no me time, even just a few quiet minutes where we weren't needed by someone else

-  Definity didn't have time to go to the gym, prep elaborate balanced meals, or do lengthy meditations.

- Weren't sure where this "village" who was supposed to help raise our kids was

We were stuck in a cycle of constant giving
and it was coming at the expense of our physical and mental health.  When we added a second child to my family, the balancing act of constant doing and putting others before myself was not sustainable. In time the challenges of motherhood started to manifest in symptoms and health issues that were too loud to ignore.

This wake up call reminded me to get back to the basics and start practicing what I preach to my clients. But before I could dive into the healthy habits around nutrition, parasympathetic nervous system stress tools, sleep, hydration, detox, movement and such, I needed to focus on the mental emotional aspects of health. I began questioning:

Where did my habits in motherhood come from?

What subconscious conditioning or limiting decisions were keeping me stuck?

What did I want instead?

Who did I want to be?

What was my ideal vision of life?

How can I live in alignment with my core values and beliefs?

After getting honest with myself and getting clear with my ultimate vision, I became free from the externally imposed expectations of motherhood. I could create the life of my dreams and live in a way that gave me energy and purpose. I left behind mom guilt and step into a new intentional way of being. With this cleared up head space, I had the ability to consciously return to activities that made me "feel like me." I reintegrated the healthy habits that made me vibrant and restored my enate health.

That is why I have decided to shift my practice focus to empowering busy naturally minded women to make their health a top priority through all phases of motherhood. I offer a holistic approach spanning from healthy habits and mindset, parasympathetic nervous system stress relief tools, physical health fundamentals, to resources that make each stage of early motherhood enjoyable. As a fellow mother emersed in the potential challenges motherhood may present, all programs and tips are presented with a focus on being quick and easy to implement.
